While Prime Minister is in Faislabad to inaugurate a power plant, political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is on its feet, all ready to display its political strength to bring down the government against charges of corruption, the rally is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm.
PTI leader Imran named this rally Ehtesab (accountability) March. The rally will start from Shahdara which will eventually reach Charing Cross, jugular vein of Lahore city known for political demonstrations.
PTI chief Imran will lead the rally which will be joined by multiple other political parties like PML-Q, PAT, PPP and AML to gain considerable momentum against government. Leader of other political party will accompany Imran to address the gathering
Khan arrived in Lahore a day earlier, on Friday, where he talked to media stressing on the fact that Prime Minister’s accountability was essential for eliminating corruption from the country.
PTI’s strategy so far is to create political pressure on government. So far political analysts have come up with multiple different sides to this story but all converging on a fact that PTI’s biggest strength is its street power, motivating crowds to come out on streets.
After Prime Minister’s name appeared in Panama Papers, PTI gained significant power points; enough to come out on streets again, after they last appeared calling for PM’s disqualification.
PTI among other political parties demanded the government to launch investigations as they claimed offshore companies were used by the premier’s family to evade taxes and stash wealth abroad.
A committee, comprising of members of both the government and the opposition, was established on premier’s offer to the joint opposition however, Terms of References have not been finalised after several meetings of the committee for probe in the Supreme Court.
12:15pm: PTI claims taking effective security measures for rally in Lahore
PTI’s rally which is all set to storm through Lahore has divided its security plan into 3 divisions. While talking to our sources CCPO Lahore claimed that the rally will be provided with fool-proof security.
According to him 5,000 policemen have been deployed throughout the 9 km route of PTI’s rally with 20 DSPs, 70 SHOs present at the scene.
Furthermore PTI’s own workers, Insaf Tiger force, Insaf youth wing will be present at the scene to ensure smooth sailing of the rally.
Walkthrough gates, barriers and barbed wires have been placed by local authorities, with 1122 rescue teams standing alert for participants.
